Our "Memory Lane" was the first red blend to ever emerge from the Pray Tell cellar back in 2018. A wine wholly aimed at capturing the magic and joy of our journey across multiple grape varieties, showcasing our pursuit of curiosity driven winemaking. The label was inspired by memories of summers spent catching fireflies in a jar when I was a kid. Backyards dimly lit by string lights, tables covered with hot dogs and hamburgers, and a boisterous symphony of family and friends chatting nearby. A little known secret is that if you line up bottles side-by-side they look like those string lights!

In years past, this blend was typically a combination of Pinot Noir and Gamay Noir--a tip of the cap to the ease of drinking wines in the Passetoutgrain style (a classification in France that translates to "All grains go through" or in other words "throw it all in!").

While we certainly appreciate the playfulness of that French sentiment, we're rather deliberate about the wines that come together to make for such an easy drinking blend. In 2023, the grapes shift to Pinot Noir and Merlot. Not just any Merlot though. We handle ours similarly to how we've made our Gamay in the past, employing a process called Carbonic Maceration to amplify those fresh fruit characteristics and soften the tannin profile. The combination is truly delightful.

Friendly in every way thanks to the warm growing season of the 2023 vintage. The Pinot Noir is from a truly exceptional site planted at 750 ft elevation in the Chehalem Mountains AVA of the Willamette Valley. The Merlot comes from a vineyard about 250 miles north east in the Columbia River Gorge, where heartier red grapes stand to ripen more fully. Aged for one year in neutral French oak barrels. Certainly ready to drink now, but capable of cellaring for years to come!
